On My Wishlist: FW 2017

I spent a long time trying to try everything and anything beauty related that came onto the market. It was quite draining financially and it led to a moment where you realize you might own too much stuff.

Since then, I put a lot of research in my wishlist items because I want to make sure my purchases are being given careful thought. The filtering questions are:

  • What do I like about it?
  • Will I realistically use this?
  • What makes it interesting?
I'm adventurous when it comes to trying new things, but I know when to just stay in my lane. This comes true especially to color cosmetics. And I am a big believer in revisiting wishlists to make sure I still want those things. So when I do buy for them, it is not just a fleeting desire but a commitment.

Here are the things that are on my wishlist as of late:

1. Glossier Boy Brow. This is one of the few Glossier products I haven't tried. I am very specific when it comes to my brows, and while I've been loyal to one particular brow gel (ahem, L'Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper), I feel like trying something new. This brow gel is lauded through and through because of its non crunchy feel and great hold & added texture. I think I'll get it when I repurchase their Milky Jelly, a fave.

2. Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Foundation. I had wanted to try Luminous Silk but, with my oily skin, it was a no-go. So when Armani released this foundation and I looked at the formula and performance claims, I was hooked. When I go through one of my foundations, I'll head to Nordstrom and try it.

3. rms beauty Unpowder. I've been pretty disappointed with my Laura Mercier translucent powder--it doesn't work on me like it does on anyone else, and that makes me sad. I swatched this back in Portland a few months ago, and was so impressed by the texture, sort of like a soft cloud. Also, silica is really good for oil control and I've been working pretty late recently, so this will come in handy.

4. Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid. I read about this while on a Reddit thread on HG products from Paula's Choice. My skin tends to congest easily and gets aggravated quickly. Once I go through my CosRX BHA Liquid I'll give this a try, since I've heard the PC one is more concentrated.

5. NARS Dual Intensity Shadow in Dione. I'm a big fan of this formulation. It is what I like to call a 'sophisticated shimmer' and it's perfect for work. I already own two palettes with this formula and I want to move to collect those unusual shades from their permanent collection. Dione is described as a metallic champagne beige, and it is absolutely beautiful. Definitely a holiday shade.

6. By Terry Preciosity Ombre Blackstar Gift Set. OOOOH NO. OOOOH NO. I've been fearing By Terry would come with a set like this for the holidays. I was right, and while it feels terribly wrong to pay $95 (!) for three cream eyeshadows, I really, really want them. I better save up slowly for this.

I'm still pondering on what to get for the VIB Sephora sale (access for VIBs is on the 10th), but this is a smorgasbord of other products on my radar.

Let's see how my budget does in the next couple of months!
